Day 31

This gets us to tonight: Molly took a long, hot bath with candle (not candles). It really wasn't all that long because it is too uncomfortable for her to sit in a regular size bathtub. It wasn't great for her back, belly, or neck.

Day 31

We got back to Portland mid-afternoon and needed to run some baby errands. We picked up our crib, jogging stroller, and hiking backpack, then came back and unloaded the car. We had Linze with us because she offered an empty car (ours was very full of camping gear) and we decided it was too nice of a day to eat/drink indoors. We headed up the road to our local McMinemin's and sat for a long time eating, drinking, and relaxing outdoors on their patio. A great end to our weekend.

Day 32

Saturday in Yakima, Washington was their big wine weekend. All the wineries were having special events, barrel tastings, and food. We only went to a few, most of them were not the greatest wineries or tastings...We also did a second thing on our list that day: we camped. Or, you could consider our Friday night our second thing that day of camping. Either way, we had a great time camping because it was nice and cold. We had a fire with s'mores, slept great, and Molly only had to pee 1 time each night! (A MIRACLE!!!)

Day 33

Friday as soon as Molly got home from work, we packed up the car and headed North and East. We drove until sunset and set up our tent in the dark.

Day 34

Thursday we always eat dinner and watch T.V. with Linze and Joshy. Well, since the Blazers are in the playoffs, our T.V. was not playing. The game was on, but we were ready to turn it off after the first quarter when they were down by 30 points. Instead, we decided to do something on the list: we bought a new video game and played all night. (we checked on the game every once in a while, they lost big time) The game is called Sambo De Amigo. Basically it is a game played with "maracas" (wii controls) and you dance, mimic, and play other games against crazy looking monkeys. It was not the best game, but it was pretty priceless watching Josh and Joshy dancing around shaking their maracas.

Day 35

Wednesday we booked a happy hour meal at our favorite Uptown Billards. The theme was lemons. It turns out that Josh enjoyed most of both of our meals because of what they served. First course was oysters with jalapeƱo and lemon jelly (yuck) so Josh got both. Second course was Halibut, which normally I like, but it was raw and "cooked" using lemon juice. Double yuck. Again, Josh scored both dishes. The third course was a lemon tart-let (yum) on a bed of peas, mushrooms, ramps, and asparagus (yuck) so I ate the tart and gave Josh the rest. The fourth course, finally, was eatable for me. It was duck with a lemon glaze with fried rice with fois gras, very good. Last course was the best (of course) desert. We had white chocolate bread pudding with lemon gelato and sauce. So, I didn't get a lot of food, but luckily I knew I might not like most of the courses so I also ordered a small pizza.

Day 36

Tuesday, we picked an easy one (although increasingly harder for Molly). We worked out together. We hear this is nearly impossible to do without kids because usually, you take turns watching the kids and working out. We do this at least 2 times a week, but Molly's workouts are more endurance tests than workouts. Cardio anyone?

Day 37

Monday, we decided to be a little naughty and have sex somewhere other than our bedroom. I won't tell where, but it was fun!

Day 38

Day 38 - Slept in

It's getting increasingly difficult for Molly to sleep in, due to comfort and bladder. So we just happed to get pretty lucky with the whole sleep thing on Sunday morning. Perhaps its just knowing that we're defying God's will by sleeping through "church" that makes us sleep so well. We slept until 10:30AM, and made a nice little breakfast before beginning yard work for the day.

Oh, and the Blazer's won game one of the play-offs. GO BLAZERS!

Day 39

Day 39 - Go see a movie!

For the 39th day, we choose to go see a movie. We wanted to go see something interesting in 3D. Guess what? Nothing interesting is out in 3D (near us) except for "How to Train a Dragon". So that's what we saw. It was a great movie. We both enjoyed it a lot, and I think it would be good in 2D as well. Two thumbs up.

38 days to go!

Day 40

Friday, April 16th - Day 40

For day 40, we chose an easy one. We actually should be choosing the harder ones.. but we're procrastinators.

Watch a SCARY MOVIE! We think that this would be difficult to watch an entire scary movie with a newborn, unless you time it just right.

The movie we chose was: The fourth-kind: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220198/ It actually was quite creepy, but not as scary as we had hoped. All-in-all, a pretty good rental.

40 pre-baby days!

So the countdown has begun: 40 days until we (are expected) to have a baby. For those of you who are recent parents, I'm sure you understand the significant change that having children has on your life. Molly and I have decided that we're going to get the most out of our last 40 childless days, by doing things that are simple if you're not a parent, but much more difficult/different when you are parents, specifically of a newborn.

We have compiled a list of 31 things (so far), and they are, in no particular order:

  1. Watch a scary movie
  2. See a movie in the theater
  3. Go out to long dinner at a restaurant
  4. Sleep in
  5. Stay up late, for no reason
  6. Go see a sports game (baseball, hockey, basketball, whatever)
  7. Go to the opera/symphony
  8. Hit a local happy hour for drinks (dad-to-be will do the drinking part, thank you)
  9. Do nothing at all
  10. Enjoy some drinks out on a patio when its nice out
  11. Sit around the house naked all night
  12. Have sex in a room other than the bedroom
  13. Get in the car and drive until sunset, rent a hotel room
  14. Shop frivolously
  15. Go for a nice long hike
  16. Rent an adult film
  17. Get a couples massage
  18. Take a long hot bath w/ candles
  19. Read a book, uninterrupted
  20. Put on blindfolds, sit across from one another and feed each other pudding (saw this in a movie, and it looked like fun)
  21. Brew a beer, uninterrupted
  22. Host an adult-only party
  23. Buy a new video game and play it
  24. Have sex first thing in the morning
  25. Go bowling
  26. Play some mini-golf
  27. Go to a rock concert
  28. Cook a 4-course, gourmet meal
  29. Put a puzzle together
  30. Go camping
  31. Go wine tasting
We're looking for suggestions on the last 9! Please help us out! Molly is very hopeful that we won't use all 40 (come-on early baby!)

We will also be blogging about each one of these things that we do, so look for updates.
